Alex Eala's Miami Open fairytale run ends with Jessica Pegula loss but is this just the beginning?

Alexandra Eala's fairytale run is at an end at the Miami Open, as Jessica Pegula beats her 7-6 5-7 6-3. It was a mammoth battle between the two, with the match have many twists and turns, before eventually Pegula emerged on top. It was Eala who started the brighter, with an early break, before Pegula immediately broke back. Eala then broke again and served for the first set, but two double faults cost her, as Pegula broke back. Pegula then won the tie break to 3, before going up an early break in the second. Eala didn't give up, pegging her opponent back, and even briefly going up a break, before Pegula responded with an immediate break back of her own. Undeterred, Eala then broke again and took the second set 7-5, showing a wherewithal that belied her tender age. A tight third set swung the American's way, after a couple of unforced errors saw Eala lose her serve at 3-4. Pegula now plays Aryna Sabalenka in the final in a repeat of their US Open final showdown last year. Tennis isn’t a widely recognized sport in the Philippines, but ABS-CBN and Dyan Castillejo has been covering Alex Eala’s journey since she was just a child with big dreams of making it in the sport.
